Website back to normal

Sorry for the long delay of irregularities. The website moved into a newer and better web server, based somewhere in Texas. My Ftp, MySql, and Email was all inaccessible after the move. Well, thanks to my friend, TomServo, this website is live again and my email too.

During the downtime, I was busy doing my school (UCF), work (Microsoft ASP.NET), and Creative Crew (Management and Programming C++). I spent most of my time flipping between work and club. As of right now, I’m doing my club project, programming as much I can in my spare time until I feel I hit a milestone on this game engine. I’ve been integrating different parts of the engine to help speed up the development, which include Ogre (Graphics), OIS (Input), NxOgre (Physics), and OpenAL (Audio). I hope I’ll get it done end of this month.

Fast track to game development

I spent many days buckling down and getting things done. Rest assure I do what I say, even though it’s not always on time, least it gets done. As a developer and a leader, it’s tough for many people to face the unknown because their lives was full of instructions or guidance, spoon feed to them. When I started putting myself through those days of programming and developing art for the game engine, I had to create something from nothing. But, it does not mean reinventing the wheel again. A lot of time spent researching just to find one command to do what you want it to do. It seems I’m at the forefront, on the edge, breaking the ice, to establish a foundation for everybody else to “easily” start from. I accept the challenge. I guess, leaders can’t make leaders sometimes.

It was a good experience putting myself on a fast-track to game development. I was learning the Ogre rendering engine and got myself back into C++ programming language (using fun pointer syntax and doing header files). I didn’t stop there, I integrated another great feature to the game engine, Newton physics engine, helping the game do collision detection seamlessly and more. So, I finished creating a base class to work with everything, next, I have to test it against real cases. So, I have to learn a major 3D graphic tool, Autodesk Maya. Again, researching more, watching video tutorials, and playing with the tool to start creating art. After all that, the game engine works against the real cases.

I’ll continue developing as much spare time I have. Leading myself and everyone else to follow, we will get to the finish line together.

The beginning of summer

Got some news to talk about. I got myself a used cruiser motorcycle, 1989 Yamaha XV250 Route 66, 250cc for $1150. I listened to my friends’ advice to get a nice cheap starter (beginner) bike.

During my two week college break, I went back home to Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami to pick up stuff and to visit. Then, my car’s radiator had a small crack and spent a day getting it repaired. Lost a day of work, 8 hour shift. When I came back I immediately got myself back to work at UCF for the rest of the break.

Last weekend, we went up to Tallahassee, Florida to visit my friend, Brad Muirhead, and his dog and bird. Chilled, had a cookout for the whole day, because this huge meat we ate took half a day to cook! The highlight of the weekend, we went shooting, real shooting at the shooting gallery. Fun times and a new experience at hickville.

Summer college is starting back up again, today. Time to go back to hell. I’m going to get the party started on Creative Crew, pushing much of my spare time, even sacrificing, to success.
